A Pair of Clogs That Changed Everything

I’ve always been connected to the world of fashion.

I studied fashion design in Argentina, created lingerie, designed clothing, and always expressed my own style through every piece I made. But deep down, I always knew that leather footwear, especially wooden soled shoes was my true dream.

That summer, holding those vintage clogs in my hands, something clicked, they weren’t perfect, but they had a soul, and I wanted to create something like that but comfortable, well-crafted, and truly mine.

Where Craftsmanship Meets Family: The Wooden Soles

From the very beginning, this wasn’t a journey I walked alone, my husband, a carpenter, brought a new layer of magic to the craft. I would draw the soles exactly as I envisioned them… And he would bring them to life with his hands, cutting each one with precision, care, and the intuition of someone who truly understands wood. Together, we merged design and woodworking, building the foundation, literally, of what would become Sol Caleyo.

From Argentina to Asturias: Honoring My Roots

Ten years ago, life brought me to Asturias, the land where my grandfather was born, it wasn’t just a move, it felt like coming full circle.

Here, surrounded by the mountains, forests, and the quiet rhythm of the north of Spain, I perfected my technique. I studied shoemaking in depth, adapted everything I knew about fashion and footwear to wooden soles, and refined my method year after year. Today, I can say I am close to the result I always dreamed of.

My First Pair: A Beginning Full of Imperfections (and Magic)

The first pair of clogs I made was for myself. I hadn’t studied shoemaking yet, and my techniques were far from polished, but even then, they had something special, they were the beginning of a path that was waiting for me all along.

The Name Behind the Brand: A Tribute to My Grandfather

The name Sol Caleyo was never chosen randomly. When I registered my brand in Argentina more than 20 years ago, I chose it as a tribute to Sol Caleyo, the small mining village in Asturias where my grandfather was born. What I never imagined was that one day… It's i would be living here, in his land, crafting my clogs and boots, and sending them from Asturias to the entire world. The brand that honored my roots eventually brought me back to them.
